Ultra High Amplification Dial Indicators

> From left to right: dial face with bezel, friction free fully jeweled cartridge style movement and case with lapped chrome plated steel spindle and hardened steel stem.

Dorsey's high amplification dial indicators feature a shock proof "following" type jeweled movement, lightweight interior segmented precision gears and a two piece ring case for unparalleled accuracy and repeatability. Chrome plated hardened steel stem is virtually crush proof. All Dorsey ultra high amplification dial indicators utilize lever principle of motion. They do not rely on rack and pinion motion. This eliminates the inherent error between meshing of racks and gears. The illustration shows Dorsey's unique shock proof, high amplification dial indicator movement. Our dial indicators feature this lever principal and an adjustable eccentric cam to achieve unparalleled accuracy and repeatability.
What others have to say
Dorsey indicators are made in USA. These are probably the best American-made indicators available.
Dial Indicators Group 4

These dial indicators are duilt to American Gage Group 4 specifications. This group has largest diameter dial face that Dorsey offer. Group 4 dial indicators are ideal for any fixture gaging and where extreme accuracy is required. Ideal for quality labs, toolmakers and grinding areas. All group 4 indicators include flat back and standard steel ball contact point, part # 47011. Additional back options and contact points are available.
Indicators Features:
- High amplification movement
- Lever principle of amplification - minimizes effect of spindle side shake
- 3-5/8" bezel - conforms to ANSI/AGD standards
- Adjustable gaging force - easily adjustable from 2 to 5 oz. by externally accessible screw
- External zero adjustment knob
- Optional lifting lever or cable release

Dial Indicators Group 3

Group 3 dial indicators are recommended for fixture gaging or where space restrictions prevent the use of group 4 indicators. All indicators have flat back included and same contact point as group 4.
Indicator Features:
- High amplification movement
- Lever principle of amplification
- 2-15/16" bezel - fits many existing fixtures. Conforms to ANSI/AGD standards
- Adjustable gaging force - easily adjustable from 2 to 5 oz. by externally accessible screw
- External zero adjustment knob - makes possible the advantage of adjusting dial indicator hand to zero
- Optional lifting lever or cable release
- Optional tolerance hands - accommodates tolerance hands to facilitate production gaging
Dial Indicators Group 3 Product Line:
Dial Indicators Group 2

The group 2 dial indicators are generally considered to be the most desirable from a standpoint of versatility and standardization. In other application, where portability or cersatility is not an important factor, the higher magnification of the group 3 or 4 may be preferred. This is particularly true on bench stands and comparators and similar instruments.
Indicator Features:
- High amplification movement
- Lever principle of amplification
- 2.25" bezel - fits many existing fixtures. Conforms to ANSI/AGD standards
- Adjustable gaging force - standard is 3 oz
- Bezel zero adjustment - insures positive lock
- Straight through spindle - permits installation of top mounted accessories and options
- Optional lifting lever positions - can be attached to top bushing or stem
- Optional tolerance hands - accommodates tolerance hands to facilitate production gaging
