Congratulations to our President, Devon Luty, receipent of the outstanding young alumni award by salve regina University

Salve Regina University awarded Devon Luty with the “Outstanding Young Alumni Award”. This award is bestowed upon an alumnus that is younger than 35 years old and recognizes exceptional achievement. Honorees have demonstrated great promise and accomplishment in their chosen professions and/or through community, pubic or humanitarian service. Recipients have made meaningful contributions to their community, family or alma mater, providing a role model for students and alumni. The honor was bestowed during Salve Regina University’s 13th Annual Fall Festival Awards Ceremony.

Devon Luty, President of Dorsey Metrology, third generation following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather. Devon started in the company performing small tasks then soon became involved in sales as well as organizing all tradeshows. Over the next two years she continued to add to her responsibilities by performing positions inside the office including, purchasing, office manager, accounting, payroll, human resources, and sales. She was promoted to Vice President in 2010, and a year later was promoted again as President. Under Devon’s leadership the company purchased a new facility, implemented a new Enterprise Resource Planning system enhancing the efficiency as well as successfully completing the first phase of construction on their second location. In 2015, Devon became the majority owner of Dorsey Metrology, and is currently pursuing the significant designation of “Women Owned Business.”

Devon’s classmate, Tess Wagner ’06, summed it up best: “What stands out most about Devon is her selflessness, caring and giving to others. Devon was my RA during my freshman year, and if anyone can manage a group of freshman college ladies, they are certainly poised for greatness in the professional world! Devon has been a role model since her days as an RA, and now as the leader of her family business. To see an alumnus come full circle in both her personal and professional life, certainly warrants the distinction of a Salve Regina University Outstanding Young Alumni Award.”

Devon Luty remarked “It is truly an honor to be recognized by my alma mater, I was surprised to be nominated but very happy to have received the award.” Devon continues to support her local community in many ways, serving as a board member of the Bardavon Opera House, and is an active contributor with both the Ulster County Boces, and Hudson Valley Community College. Dorsey Metrology funds the “Ted Luty Scholarship” presented to a Hudson Valley Community College student. This scholarship is in memory of Devon’s father, to continue his dream of bringing back manufacturing to the US.

Congratulations Devon!
