TI Series Linear Dial Test Indicator

This instrument combines the accessibility and versality of a test indicator with the accuracy and stability of a pantograph gage. Its design eliminates cosine error inherent in all other test indicator design. Vertical dials are located on both sides of the indicator and each can be rotated 360° for best viewing position. These instruments feature Dorsey's unique cartridge style jeweled movement which maintains accuracy and repeatability throughout millions of cycles.
Dial test indicator vs dial indicator
The major difference between dial indicators and dial test indicators is how they contact inspected part. The dial indicator uses a spring loaded plunger which moves in and out of the body whereas the dial test indicator has a small ball-tipped arm or lever that pivots from a hinge point.
Dial test indicators work very well when measuring tiny variations in the flatness or height of a inspected part. With a surface plate and height stand the part or dial test indicator can be moved around to gage the consistency of a measurement.
Dorsey dial test indicators are available with different contact options and different backmounts. Dial test indicator is also available with double dial face option, both english and metric.

Dorsey's dial test indicators are available with steel and carbide contacts. Contacts diameters available are 0.04", 0.08' and 0.12", each in steel and carbide.
